Intro to Yoga

Each week will build successively on the next, with topics explored including a brief history of and philosophy on the origins of yoga, breathing techniques, and the foundational asanas(postures) of a typical Hatha Yoga class. By the end of the 6-week session, you will know how to modify postures to fit your needs and be able to comfortably follow along in any group class

 

By the end of this 6-week session, you will be comfortable practicing:

 

  • Proper Yogic Breathing

  • Postural Alignment

  • Warmup Postures

  • Sun Salutations

  • Standing Poses

  • Forward Folding

  • Backbending

  • Spinal Twists

  • Final Relaxation and Meditation

Almost two years ago, as a newcomer to Ottawa, I first met Eryn when I signed up for her Intro to Yoga series. Since then, I have continued to follow her and find yoga with Eryn to be fun, challenging, and greatly rewarding. The calm and peaceful environment is something that I always look forward to and my body always feels great after a good class. When a shoulder injury kept me away from my mat for a few months, I regained the strength (and courage!) to return to yoga. I worked with Eryn to find a class that suited my physical abilities and have been so happy to be back.
